Pigpen Cipher

 Hi Bloggers, 

This is my 3rd task for the summer learning journey. For this task we had to read and create our own ciphers. I dont very much enjoy going to beaches so I just used the beach I have been too most.

I found this task a bit difficult to compose a clue and figure out how to cipher worked

My next step would be to use a more difficult to find beach

This is my first task for the Summer learning journey I've missed out on a ton of these activities but I will still get them all out :)

Our task was to learn about taneore and to create a Kowhaiwai pattern using google drawings. One fact I learnt about taneore was that taneore is the personification of shimmering air.

The kowhaiwhai i have created is a very simple design and I'm assuming its supposed to represent waves 

To create this I vertically flipped our starter image and then horizontally and repeatedly placed that image  

I found this task quite easy

My next step would be to create a more complex kowhaiwhai

Coordinate Maths!

For this task we had to finish our math from when we were working with Whaea Diane

I was working with Ana and Kaia

We were given 8 paper clues and 10 counters

But we didn't have a B counter for our set so Ana made 1 with paper 

We used the 8 clues to figure out where each counter went

I found this task quite tricky to figure out where each counter went.

Our next step would be to figure it out quicker

Rocket Challenge !

Today we built and launched our Rockets 

We learnt about Newtons 3 Laws of motion which is all displayed on this slide ↑

I found the task easy with the videos from Wonder Project

My Next step would be to make a rocket that flew straight up.

Today was really windy so maybe if we launched it again on a sunnier and less windy day the Rockets would fly better.

We were learning to say simple sentences in te reo 

Our task was to ask the question and respond in Te reo Maori 

I found it easy to say the words but hard to find a quiet spot to record it 

Next time I would maybe edit the video so that you can see the words on the screen.

For this task we had to create a coding of something chasing something on scratch
I learnt how to make things move on scratch

I found it tricky but with the help of my friends I got it done

My next step is to do something more interesting idea instead of a girl chasing a balloon

Kawakawa Balm!

Hey Bloggers !
Today we finished our kawakawa balm boxes and labels,
Here are some photos ---------------------------->
We were learning about Rongoa maori
Our task was to put together our boxes and stick on our
labels to the balm containers.
I learnt
- That the balm was made with kawakawa leaves and that it wasn't made based on the actual town
- That Rongoa actually was used in the old days
- The kawakawa oil can be made quicker in a slow cooker
My next step is to put a flap on the top so that me box can close.
Some interesting facts I learnt were
- Rongoa used to be used to heal gunshots
- Some hospitals are thinking about bringing rongoa to be used alongside modern medicine

A Square of numbers!

For todays maths we had to do this problem called a Square of numbers
To solve it I tried different numbers in different places till I got this answer
I found found this task easier then expected
My next step would be to do this without being completely random.

Kawakawa Infographic ( Me and Kaia)

Hey bloggers For this task we had to do something like a DLO or a Infographic on one specific plant or the basis of rongoa I learned a lot about Kawakawa which was the plant I did with Kaia P.S Check out her post at https://kpskaiar.blogspot.com/  I found this task easy because there was so much information to find.
Next time I would probably make a slide with even more information about kawakawa.

Kawakawa Oil ! 😊

This week we've been talking a lot about kawakawa oil
Our task was to write a procedure on how to make kawakawa oil😊
I learned how to set out a procedure properly
I found this task hard at first but was easier at the end since I realised every thing.
Next time I'll write a bit of a more specific recipe.
Overall this task was easy
We haven't actually made the oil yet 😂 But we might soon

Lockdown Senses Poem ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)!

For this task we had to Write a Sensory Poem about lockdown
We were Learning to write a Poem using our Senses about Lockdown
I found thinking of what each sense was quite easy but I found putting this into a sentence more tricky .

Maths eyes!

This was our Maths task for today
Its called Maths eyes
Basically just looking at the picture and trying to notice anything at all 
so heres my go

5. The 4 in the front have spraypaint and I think the rest do to
I mean thats all I can think of if theres more be sure to let me know

Long Division!

So recently I've been having to do long division
so now I know how to do long divison with 1 digit divisor and 4 digit dividends
So here i wanted to share what I've learned from that.
so here I will show a long division problem and then I will show you how to do one.

                                                      6   ⟌4065
So say we saw that that basicly is just 6 divided by 406
So to start it we look at the 6 and the 4 and we ask how many times does 6 go into 4 and the answer is 0 because 6 cant go into 4 so we bring in the next number and make 4 into 40 so now we ask how many times does 6 go into 40 and the answer is 6 times since it is the closest we can get so now we put 6 ontop of the 0  like this            x     0  6
                                                               6 ⟌4 0 6 5
Now we go 6 from the top x 6 (the divisor) and that is 36 and now we do this 
                                                          x    0  6
                                                         6 ⟌4 0 6 5
                                                                -
                                                                 3 6
                                                             ----------
                                                                     4
and since thats 4 its right because it's smaller than the divisor
Now we can move to the next step which is where we duplicate the 6 (from the divendend) and bring it down to the 4 then we ask how many times does 6 go into 46 like this

                                                                -
                                                                 3 6
                                                             ----------
                                                                     4 6
And the answer is 7 times and we put the seven above the six then go 6 x 7 which equals to 42 and minus that from 46 like this

Now we bring down the last number which is 5 and make the 4 into 45 and ask How many times does 6 go into 45? Which is 7 times so now we put the 7 above the 5 and then we go 6x7 which equals to 42 then we go 45 - 42 which equals to 3 so now our answer is 677 with a remainder of 3
and our completed problem looks like this

Class boat Challenge!

 Hey bloggers!
Sorry I havent been posting alot
But For this post I will be talking to you all about my classes boat challenge
So my class well some of my class took part In a boat contest
Where we had to make our own boats out of random materials.
The materials I used were....
A empty Fabric softner bottle
Some tinfoil
Markers ( Red and blue)
White paper
A Toothpick
And Tape
So heres how I made it
First I took my Fabric softner bottle and cut off part of it
Next I Covered it in tinfoil
For the flag I looked up the new zealand flag and drew it on my paper with my markers
Then I took my toothpick and taped it to my mini flag
Lastly I stabbed the flag into the boat and I was done!
I found This task quite easy

How to stay safe against covid-19!

Hey Bloggers!
As you might know schools have been closed because of the famous Covid-19
So here I wanted to list some things to keep you safe against Covid-19
Starting of with
1. Trying to wash your hands frequently
This could be done by every once in a while washing yours hands even before and after eating with soap and water
2. Avoiding close contact with others
This one is quite simple is could just be done by not touching , hugging or even handshaking anyone

3. Cleaning quite often

This ones as simple as wiping down tables every once in a while or mopping and vaccuming aswell
